A Life Rooted in Community

Receiving Her Cancer Care Under One Roof

A Place for Comprehensive Care

When Pleasant Hill resident Helen Nieber was diagnosed with cancer, she found hope and healing at the UCSF-John Muir Health Jean and Ken Hofmann Cancer Center. Having all her care under one roof—from consultations to treatments—meant less stress, easier scheduling, and a stronger connection with her care team.

The Healing Power of Connection

Helen is quick to share that the emotional support she received was just as important as the advanced medical treatments. Surrounded by her “coffee shop friends” and her medical team, she felt cared for as a person—not just as a patient.

An Environment Designed for Well-Being

The center’s light-filled spaces, art installations, and peaceful gardens gave Helen moments of peace during her journey. “Everything here feels like it’s meant to lift you up,” she says. “It made all the difference.”

Gratitude and Giving Back

Helen’s experience inspired her to speak openly about the importance of community and quality care. Her story serves as a poignant reminder of how compassionate treatment and a supportive environment can significantly impact a patient’s journey.

You can help provide this kind of care to others in our community.
