Neuropsychology Services

John Muir Health’s Neuropsychology Services offers neuropsychological evaluations in an ethical, nurturing, and supportive manner for adults and older adults. Evaluations help assist individuals, families, and treating providers with diagnosis, treatment, and care needs.

Assessment Services
  • Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson Disease Cognitive Decline, and other Dementias
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Stroke
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Brain Tumors
  • Other Neurologic Conditions
A Typical Neuropsychological Evaluation Will Assess:
  • General Intellect
  • Higher Level Executive Skills
  • Attention and Concentration
  • Learning and Memory
  • Language
  • Visuospatial Skills (e.g. perception)
  • Motor and Sensory Function
  • Mood and Personality

Tests are designed to identify cognitive weaknesses in specific areas. They are sensitive to mild memory and thinking problems that might not be obvious in other ways. Testing can help determine whether memory changes are normal age-related changes or if they reflect a neurological disorder. Testing can also be used to identify problems related to medical conditions that often affect memory and thinking such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumor, and multiple sclerosis.
